Important Information.regarding eye lenses

A 21 year old guy had worn a pair of contact lenses during a barbecue party.(An event or meal at which food is cooked outdoors over an open grill or fire)
While barbecuing he stared at the fire charcoals continuously for 2-3 minutes.
After a few minutes, he started to scream for help and moved rapidly, jumping up and down.
No one in the party knew why he was doing this?

Then he admitted into the Hospital, the doctor said he'll be blind permanently because of the contact lenses that he had worn.
Contact lenses are made by plastics, and the heat from the charcoal melted
his contact lenses.

What is spondylosis?

Spondylosis is a disorder that is caused by the degeneration of the discs which are soft cushions, present between the vertebrae. This results in the vertebrae rubbing together and exerting pressure on the nerves. As the condition progresses, the bones may move out of their natural positions, causing pain and disability.

How is it caused?
...
■Wear and tear of the joints that accompanies aging, a condition called osteoarthritis.
■Inflammation of the joint.
■Injuries such as automobile accidents, athletic injuries, sudden jerks on the arms, falls.

What are the signs and symptoms?

■Neck pain.
■Loss of sensation of the shoulder or arms.
■Weakness of the arms.
■Difficulty in moving the head, and neck stiffness that may deteriorate gradually.
■Headaches.
■Loss of control of the bladder or the bowel.
■Loss of balance.
■Ear noise or buzzing.
■Muscle weakness in the shoulders, arms or hands.

How is the condition diagnosed?

X-rays of the neck or MRI scans may be obtained to show abnormalities that indicate cervical spondylosis. A CT scan or spine MRI confirms the diagnosis. A myelogram (X-ray or CT scan after injection of a dye into the spinal column) may be recommended to clearly identify the compression of the nerves.

What is the treatment?

The goal of treatment is to relieve pain and prevent permanent spinal cord injury. Specific head movements may cause some pain and discomfort, for which painkillers may be given. Exercises to strengthen the neck muscles may be suggested. A cervical collar may be used to restrict neck movements and reduce pain. In some cases, neck traction may also be suggested in addition to the cervical collar.

Surgical decompression of the spinal cord in the neck may be required in severe cases if there is loss of movement, sensation or function.

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters... S.T..R ...

My friend sent this to me a...nd encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this...

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :

S * Ask the individual to SMILE ..
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg 'It is sunny out today').
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

And it could be your own.

CAT seeks govt response on Prasar Bharati union de-recognition petition

03 Oct 11 11:04 IST

NEW DELHI: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has sought the Government's response on the petition filed by employees’ associations challenging their de-recognition by Prasar Bharati.

A bench comprising Member Judicial Meera Chhibber and Member Administration Dr A K Misra directed the government to reply by 17 October on the plea of the employees for derecognising their unions.

The three petitioners - Association of Radio and TV Engineering Employees (ARTEE), AIR and DD Technical Employees Association, and the Programme Staff Association had approached CAT after Justice S Muralidhar of the Delhi High Court earlier this week said all matters under service rules should first be heard by the Tribunal and only an appeal can come to the Court.

The Associations had last week approached the Delhi High Court challenging the office order of 8 September de-recognising all associations. The Court heard the matter for three days.

The petitioners have alleged that Prasar Bharati had not only de-recognised their associations but also transferred 500-odd employees including 24 office bearers of various associations to different parts across the country.

According to the petitioners, nine associations of employees were formally recognised by the management and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry which has been talking to their representatives on various issues.

However, the order of 8 September said no association of employees of the pubcaster is recognised and, therefore, no employee can be given preferential treatment.

It further said all employees are to be treated in a fair and transparent manner and nullified an earlier order issued by Director General of All India Radio on 18 December 2008.

The staff of All India Radio and Doordarshan protested against this move and observed a day-long dharna from 10 am to 5 pm without disrupting work on 21 September.

In addition to the Union of India, the Secretary in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Prasar Bharati Chairperson Mrinal Pande, and nominated member and officiating CEO Rajiv Takru have been named as respondents in the petition.

I&B Ministry proposes amendments to curtail Prasar Bharati CEO

30 Sep, 2011, 10.12PM IST, PTI

NEW DELHI: Information and Broadcasting Ministry has sent a note proposing amendments to the Prasar Bharati Act which will considerably curtail the powers of the CEO of the public broadcaster.

"The need to amend the Act had been felt after the Shunglu Committee pointed to irregularities during the tenure of former CEO B S Lalli. A Group of Ministers had recommended that the Act be modified and the relations between the ministry and Prasar Bharati be relooked," a top official said.

As per the amendments, the process of removal of the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati will be made less tougher.

"A board which would consist of the office of the Vice President, the Chairperson of Press council of India and the Minister of Information and Broadcasting would have the powers to appoint and also remove the Prasar Bharati CEO," the official said.

As per the present Act, the Prasar Bharati CEO cannot be removed without the consent of the President and the Supreme Court, the official said.

After the amendments, "grounds of inefficiency" would also be included as a reason for which the CEO could be removed, the official said.

Another amendment the ministry proposes is to reduce the eligibility age of the Prasar Bharati board members to 55 years from the current 62. "The idea is to get in more young blood", the official said adding the minimum age for the Chairperson and the CEO have been kept intact as per the previous act.
